Halloween is just 2 short months away

Hey friends!

Halloween is just 2 short months away and I'm getting ready for it!

I saw a very cute treat bag in this month's Stampin Up demonstrator magazine and had to make it These bags would be perfect for Halloween parties, class room treats, treats for family, friends, and co-workers. And they are super easy to put together! So easy that I made a video to prove it!

Ghoulish Gogglies treat bag video

Buy the Ghoulish Googlies bundle (#129852 wood or #120853 clear) found in the Stampin Up Holiday catalog on page 27, save 15%, and get everything you need to create these bags--- the Ghoulish Googlies designer kit and coordinating Googly Ghouls stamp set.
So cute!

More than one---who can resist!

I got the design idea from my Stampin Success magazine, an exclusive monthly magazine only for Stampin Up demonstrators---one of the many great benefits of being a SU demo. At my September downline meeting, we will be making several other projects from this magazine along with these treat bags. Want to join us for a fun day of stamping? Join my team today and you can! click here for more information.

Speaking of demostrator benefits....new demos will received this Howl-o-ween printers tray kit with everything needed to decorate it with a Halloween theme; use removable adhesive and the theme can easily be changed through out the year! This offer has been extended to 16 September, so act now! In addition to the Howl-o-ween kit, you will also receive $125 worth of products of YOUR CHOICE for ONLY $99 (FREE SHIPPING, TOO!) That is a savings of over $35! Click here to learn more about the benefits of being a Stampin Up Demonstrator.

Pinwheel card---a video tutorial!

Hey friends!

I've posted another video tutorial! This one shows how to make a pinwheel card using Stampin Up products.

My version was inspired by a similar card made by Justin over at www.jkcards.wordpress.com. I made the card below, and loved it so much I used it as one of my Stampin Up convention swap cards....
Convention swap card

But then I started making video tutorials and decided this card was so super awesome I had to make a video tutorial for it. I changed the colors for the video making the pinwheel Daffodil Delight yellow and the background Real Red. But the camera didn't pick up these vibrant colors, so I 'm a little sad....but happy about the video!

Please leave me a comment letting me know what you think of my pinwheel card and the tutorial.

Tea ladies do lunch and kumihimo!

Hey friends!

I've posted my latest tutorial video....check it out! What do you think? Would you rather make a fabulous treat box like this or receive one?

I made several of these boxes; I gave one to my hairdresser and the rest went to my monthly club members with their orders.

I used the basic elements of this box to make pillow boxes but changed up the color scheme a little---black card stock for the box and Melon Mambo ribbon, but the same frame from the I Am stamp set I got at Stampin Up convention.

I made the pillow boxes to give as little treats to the ladies I go to tea with. Last Saturday, instead of having tea we had lunch, then we made kumihimo bracelets. I'd never heard of this type of braiding before, but it's super easy!

Want to experience the luncheon and bracelet-making party vicariously through my photos? I thought you might!
the table setting was absolutely beautiful

appetizers---chicken hot wing wing dip and deviled eggs

delicious artichoke, vegetable and chicken casserole--yummy!

watermelon, feta, and olive salad---might be my favorite salad ever!

some of the ladies lending a hand in the kitchen

I tried it all!!!

turkey burger sliders with flavored mayo---check out the cute mini grapes!

After lunch Olga gave each of a kumihimo kit and our first braiding lesson....
Hey Olga! Loved the luncheon and making my kumihimo bracelet!

Peg shows off the kumihimo circle

My bracelet---I choose the Ravens team colors

I chose to make a two color bracelet because I wanted to use the Baltimore Ravens team colors--purple and black. Start to finish it may have taken an hour to make this bracelet--and it was my very first attempt! You can use a variety of materials--embroidery floss, silk cord (rat tail), wire, etc. It's easy and a very portable craft. I plan on making many more bracelets!

I'm going to wear my bracelet on Purple Fridays. For you non-Marylanders, this is a local tradition for Ravens fans; every Friday during football season we show team support by wearing team apparel or team colors on Fridays. I am ready for football season!!

Did you try anything new or exciting recently?

A tale of several Christmas cards

Hey friends!

Last month I designed a Christmas card for my birthday make & take session. The idea was to have a quick and easy card---the card below hit the mark in that area but I felt something was lacking.

Quick & easy
After my birthday I tried to bring it up a notch by experimenting with my shimmer paints. Which version do you prefer?
First attempt, sponged champagne mist shimmer paint on vintage wall paper embossing folder then embossed card stock

Second attempt, I sponged the champagne shimmer paint on the embossed card stock

Third attempt, I sponged frost white shimmer paint on the embossed card stock

Final attempt, I mixed the frost white shimmer paint in a spritzer with rubbing alcohol and spritzed the embossed card stock
My favorite is the last version.

My first video!

Hey friends!

I am on YouTube! I posted my first video!

A few weeks ago I saw a Hello Kitty card on Pinterest made by Diane Ouellette and couldn't wait to make it. Because it was so easy to put together I decided to make a video tutorial showing just how easy.

Please leave me a comment---I'd love to see your thoughts on the card and, of course, my first video!

A Bestie birthday celebration---I am spoiled!

Hey friends!

My birthday celebration wasn't quite over! I had dinner tonight with my bestest friend. We have been friends since elementary school; our mothers introduced us on the playground on what I think was the first day of 3rd grade.

So another birthday celebration, another great meal, and MORE presents...check it out!

I had chicken chesapeake--I'd recommend it!
Jackie had a mango-something margarita

more presents---this one had a cool cup.....

A special drinking cup---a solo cup with a candlestick base
and even more presents!
key lime pie for dessert---with a candle!

OK, enough about what seems to be my endless birthday celebrations!

I hope everyone has a bestest friend to celebrate their birthday with. I'd love to know how you met your bestie! Please leave me a comment with the story. Thanks for sharing!

August Stampin Up news

Hey stamping friends!

It's August already! I am having a hard time believing summer will soon be over and the hectic fall rush will start soon!

I'm going to be like Scarlett in Gone with the Wind and say "I can't think about that right now. If I do, I'll go crazy. I'll think about that tomorrow!"

To distract myself from those thoughts I'm going to share some delightful stamping news instead. The Holiday catalog went live today! The catalog is larger than previous years and is jammed packed with the coolest crafty stuff, plus much more. Every time I page through I find something I've missed--it's that awesome. There are 9 product bundles that will save you 10-15%. You really need to check it out! Drop me an email with your address if you would like a hard copy mailed to you. This catalog is valid through January 2, 2013.

Now for a Spooktacluar offer....during the month of August all new recruits receive a printers tray that comes with everything you need to decorate it for Halloween. This is a $60 value for FREE! The starter kit has a new, lower price--it's just $99 and you select the $125 in product that you want from either the annual catalog or the Holiday catalog--or mix and match, and did I mention shipping is FREE!! So you get a $185 value for just $99. This is a fabulous offer!! And the printers tray can be redecorated as the seasons/holidays change. Join my team today. Whether you want to earn extra cash or want to buy your stamping products at a discount for yourself, I'd love to have you on my team!

But wait there's even more to love about August! MDS 2 (My Digital Studio version 2) was released today AND you can get 31% off the most popular downloads and all print products.
