Recipe for a Quick & Easy card with lots of Wow!

Hi stamping friends!

I want to share with you a recipe for a very quick and easy card. My friend (and upline) used this design layout for Christmas cards; I used the same design for Valentine's cards and a birthday card--it is very versatile!

Check out these samples:

The directions are simple!
  1. Cut a piece of cardstock or Designer Series Paper (DSP) 3.75" x 3.75".
  2. Cut a diagonal 1" out of one side by placing one corner on the cut line and moving the other corner to the 1" mark before cutting.
  3. Turn the piece so the diagonal is perpendicular to the cut line and cut at 1 1/4" and the next piece at 1 1/4".
  4. Place dimensionals at the bottom and top of each piece, lower is better if you plan to run ribbon behind it for a bow.
  5. Embellish and stamp card front as desired.

PPA127 challenge

Hi stamping friends!

I started what I thought would be a quick project on Friday evening--it ended taking me until Sunday afternoon to complete!

Wondering what my big project was? I'm almost embarrassed to share it....I finally organized my cardstock and discovered that I own just about all the current Stampin Up colors!  Apparantly, I could never bring myself to order Wild Wasabi. Go figure! I now have 3 portable file boxes with current SU cardstock.

I filed alphabetically rather than by color family based on my uplines filing system (which I envied during a recent stamping retreat). Now I just have to figure out a system for keeping scraps. Should I sort them by current and retired colors? Or maybe by size--I have some narrow long strip and some variation of half or quarter-sized pieces, plus much small pieces. I'm at a loss on how to organize these scraps!

Not only that, but I have another portable file box containing nothing but retired Stampin Up cardstock and 10 or so manilla envelopes containing just a few sheets of more retired cardstock, all nicely labeled thanks to my Brother labeling machine. I used almost an entire tape cartridge making labels! I have oodles of Cool  Caribbean and Cameo Coral--I must have really liked them way back when!

I've been pondering what to do with all the retired cardstock. I'm leaning towards making simple cards--birthday, get well, thinking of you, etc--to send to the troops and to share with the cancer treatment floor of our local hospital.

I did take a short stamping break to participate in the Pals Paper Art challenge. I finally had a chance to break out my new label framelits--I love them!

Hi friends!

January is a haevy birthday month amongst my family and friends. So the last week of December finds me making many birthday cards. I make for male and female, young and old. This year there were 2 special birthdays to mark--someone turned turned 21 and another turned the big 5-0.

And the celebrating hasn't ended yet! One more birthday is coming up later this month so I haven't put the birthday stamps away yet. Stay tuned!

Christmas gifts--stacks of cards

Hi friends!

Confession time...I'm a Stampin Up demonstrator and I love to stamp! So when Christmas rolls around I want to give gifts that I've stamped. This year I gave stacks of cards to friends and family.

I had dinner just before Christmas with a lady I worked for 18 years ago! She has moved away from my area but comes back a few times a year to visit family and we try to get together during her visits. I knew I would most likely see her over the Christmas season at some point and wanted to give her a special gift of hand-stamped cards. These were the cards in her stack--birthday and thank you cards.

My stepmom loves sending hand-stamped cards. Her card stack included the birthday and thank you cards above plus a few of these get well cards. I love matching enevelopes!

Pals Paper Arts color challenge 126

Hey friends!

I saw a color challenge over at the the Pals Paper arts site using Not Quite Navy, Baja Breez and Very Vanilla. I was inspired to recreate 2 cards I had on hand using this color combination.

Raining flowers in NQN, BB, and VV (sorry it's so dark)

inspiration card in concord crush

While I was making these cards I discovered why it is soooo much better stamping with friends---you need them to give you advise straight up! I was undecided where to place the sentiment for the first card and how to layer it. Look at how many options I considered....

no sentiment

below flower

on flower

under bow (I finally decided on this placement)

above the bow

then I questioned which sentiment--friends or....

thank you

Which one do you like best?

Happy New Years Day 2012!

Happy New Year!

We stayed up late last night and welcomed the New Year in with some sparkler-type fireworks and a kiss when the ball landed.

As she had promised, our youngest daughter made cinnamon rolls this morning. The recipe she followed came from a cookbook she received as a Christmas present.

These rolls are good and , as the title of the cookbook suggests, easy to make! She has picked several other recipes from this book that she plans to make and they each sound yummy.
